to testify...

The word testimonial has become a part of our active vocabulary thanks to orkut ...but the kind of testimonials ppl write these days are preposterous. for example lets take a few classic lines that chicks come up for some of their male friends....
.... "hes one of the most caring persons i have known hes veryyyyyyy helping and any help just give him a call and hes there...." i mean obviously hes caring , who would pass up a chance to help a chick ( esp if chance marofying ;) her) ... and most guys are always freeeeeeeeee( too many engineers..!) to help girls ..they indefinitely postpone all their engagements for the day and are at service. I've seen many of my friends do this kind of service for their girls...If the girl has to go out some where to catch up with some of her frnds or on some other work ..guys are miraculously reminded of some work in that locality... and say "hey thats on my way.. i'll pick u up in 10 mins.." and lo our bikes are turned to taxis...!!
Most of the testimonials have become a status symbol on orkut. the more testimonials the more cooool and famous u are. the funniest part is when u try an abbreviate 'testimonial' to 'testi' ... ppl will go around saying," mama i just got a new testi, now i have 4 "TESTIS"
Amazing ... four..! .. you must be superMAN....!

KPJ lucky time....!!!!

As India enters a new era of economic prosperity and with the increasing literacy levels and as we become more computer literate and all that stuff.... we must ask ourselves are really ''educated", are we truly out of the pangs of ignorance. Well, no, at least the figures say so.
Most astrologers and astrology related businesses(gems stones etc..) are minting money. I'm not against astrology, in fact astrology is a great science, but being mishandled. Ppl are being told all sorts of crap about astrology and the navagrahas and stuff. Star news once did a program on shani. According to it ...shani was supposed to unleash its wrath on the earth and ppl with a certain kind of birth chart will suffer heavy losses...In order to save ourselves we had to call a few numbers on the screen... unbelievable!!!
What ppl are forgetting is that all the grahas are in turn controlled by a primordial source. It is His grace that we must crave for. Tyagaraja rightly said," grabalamemi, sri raamaanugraha balame balamu..! If you have the "anugraha" of raamachandra then it matters not the strength of your grahas..

It is possible to predict the future by astrology. And when the astrologer is competent , it is mostly true. But it is definitely possible to alter it. The future belongs to God and it is only he who reveals; only for one reason; it is a future written to be altered.

Temples of South India

I have had the good fortune of visiting numerous temples in the south. Visiting temples or temple city once used to be a an experience in itself. In the olden days when devotees used to start off on a pilgrimage, it used to take them days to reach the shrine. Say if a party is going from vijayawada to tirupathi , it used to take them weeks to get there. and after reaching tirupathi, trekking the mountainous terrain to tirumala and finally seeing of the grandeur of the gopuram, and a darshan of the lord in all his splendor , the hearts of the devotees used to be filled with joy.all through the journey their minds would crave for a darsanam. No wonder after undergoing through such hardships for 'darsanam' most devotees broke into songs. This is especially true in 'vaishavaite kshetras' , where the 'alankaara priya' deity is grand and beautifully ornamented. To end it all , the glorious 'chekkara pongali' prasadam and a sumptuous meal at the temple.

That was in the olden days when there was no "special 1000 rupees darsanam" no VIP recommendations.!!
